Sun shines on the soaring Hawks

From the start, Isabelle Dawson went in goal with Izzy Dunne and Zoe Green in defence. Phoebe Williams and Sienna Limbert went in midfield with Emily Blackburn and Fern Ashworth upfront. Poppy Millard, Daisy Halewood, Meadow Young and Alex Wilkinson started the game as subs.

It was a lovely sunny morning in Haslingden offering the perfect conditions for a great game of football for the Hawks. The first half provided a lot of entertainment for the spectators with a real even-matched end-to-end game of football. Dawson was back in goal covering for the injured Hadley and she didn't disappoint with some fantastic saves and looking very confident between the sticks. Dunne and Green covered defence well and did their bit to keep the Hawks in the game seeing off some great attacking play from Pendle Forest. Williams and Limbert had great chances against a strong Pendle side. Wilkinson, Millard, Young, and Halewood all came on half way through the first half and continued the same style of play.

The second half started quickly with a goal from Halewood on 31 minutes. The girls continued to push and followed up with a second goal from Limbert following a fantastic cross from Ashworth on 38 minutes. Limbert quickly added another on 39 minutes. Williams provided fantastic service in midfield allowing more attacking play with Young offering more great defence for the Hawks.

Great crosses was a theme for this game when Millard provided another perfect pass in on 50 minutes for Blackburn to expertly dispatch. Wilkinson's runs at goal allowed the pressure to build for the Hawks to push on further in the match. The final perfect play came from another fine cross from Halewood for Limbert to finish on 54 minutes and grab her hatrick.

Player of the match was awarded to Dawson in recognition for her fine work in goal.

Some really good play for the Hawks. You can really see their training coming through from Coach Tim and they were definitely still on a high from their training night win against our older girls in the Under 12s team! Onwards to the cup final next week!!!
