Last Minute Equalizer Takes Victory Away From Sharks

The Sharks line up for this penultimate game was Louise Mackenzie in goal, Eve Hadley and Phoebe Williams in defence, Grace Hadley and Emily Blackburn in mid-field, with strikers Daisy Halwood and Madison Purdy and Sienna substituting.
Cadley played on a grass pitch so different to what the Sharks are used to but they conditioned themselves quite well. Both teams were in attacking mood and chances were created in the first two minutes. The Sharks then broke through in the third minute when G. Hadley coming through from mid-field had a twenty yard shot which flew into the top- corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance. 0-1.
Both sides kept up the attacking play with Cadley going close several times. Williams playing in her new defensive role was outstanding. The Sharks were also in attacking mode and when substitute Sienna came on after some neat play it ended with her scoring the Sharks second goal in the fifteenth minute. 0-2.
The Sharks were beginning to win the mid-field battle with G. Hadley and Sienna a strong combination. Half time came and the Sharks were ahead 0-2.
At the start of the second half Cadley were on the front foot and they pulled one back in the twenty-eighth minute when their striker dribbled the ball through the defence to slot home. 1-2. Williams was still standing strong in defence aided by E. Hadley, and with Blackburn and Purdy and their non stop running they were creating chances but the finish was not there. Cadley missed the target several more times with the Sharks hanging on. With two minutes to go the referee awarded a back pass, resulting in an indirect free kick to Cadley. The free kick was taken and the Cadley player had two shots both blocked, first by G. Hadley and then by E. Hadley but the ball came back out and with her third shot managed to place the ball in the corner of the net. 2-2. The game wasn't over and from the kick off Purdy was put through but the ball went agonisyingly the wrong side of the post. The game ended 2-2, a fair result. Grace Hadley was awarded Player of the Match and Phoebe Williams was March Player of the Month.
