The First Sunny Day of the Season - A Fresh and Vibrant Playing Day

The team lined up Madison Purdy in goals, Eve Hadley and Louise Mackenzie in defence, in midfield Grace Hadley and Izzy Dunn with Emily Blackburn and Daisy Halwood in attack and Beth Whittaker substitute.

The first sunny day of the season, a fresh and vibrant playing day. The Feniscowles team were a robust side and played some neat inter-passing. This led to their first goal in the second minute with some slick play and the Sharks defence still sorting themselves out. 0-1. Feniscowles attacked with menace and defenders Mackenzie and E. Hadley had to be at their best, with Purdy behind them saving well on a couple of occasions. The Sharks attack could not get going, and a second Feniscowles goal arrived in the eleventh minute. 0-2.
Purdy saved again and E. Hadley cleared while under great pressure from four opposing players. The Sharks first corner arrived in the thirteenth minute as the Sharks attack started to apply pressure. But then in the seventeenth minute from a breakaway Feniscowles scored again making it 0-3. Whittaker came on for Blackburn and from a corner Halwood had a shot saved at the foot of the post, the Sharks best effort. Dunn went on a barnstorming run but ran out of pitch before she could shoot, half time came with the score at 0-3.

The Sharks changed goalkeepers with Mackenzie going in goal and Purdy going up front with Blackburn, as Dunn took her turn on the bench. The attack sparked into life and Purdy had the ball taken off her toes in front of goal. Feniscowles No. 7 Hoyle was creating problems on the Sharks left flank, and goalkeeper Mackenzie was called into action several times. On thirty five minutes Dunn came on for Halwood, who had put on a good stint, her best game to date. Thirty seven minutes gone Mackenzie made another good save determined to keep them out. The Sharks were still pressing but no goal yet, with Purdy going just wide. In the forty second minute the post saved the Sharks but in overtime in the fifty second minute Feniscowles scored their fourth, to make the final score 0-4.

Louise Mackenzie was the Sharks Player of the Match for her second half performance. The Sharks awarded Feniscowles No. 8 Macy Moore as their best player.
