A Cold Biting Wind Warmed Up By The Football

A cold biting wind, warmed up by the Sharks football. Against a new emerging Lango team the Sharks team was changed round and Lango played with eight. The Sharks lined up with Eve Hadley in goal , Grace Hadley and Emily Blackburn in defence , Jasy Kaye and Phoebe Williams in midfield , Maddison Purdy and Daisy Halewood up front and Beth Wittaker and Izzy Dunn as replacements.
Play was congested in midfield, with the first shot on target from Purdy not until the 8th minute. From the following corner the Sharks went one up when Purdy drilled the ball home from inside the area. 1-0. On the 12th minute changes were made with Dunn and Whittaker for G. Hadley and Kaye. Halewood was having her best game up front along with the full running Purdy. In the 16th minute Langho mounted their first assault on the Sharks goal with goalkeeper E. Hadley getting her first touch of the ball, and in the next attack made a good diving save. With Williams now in defence with Whittaker, the Sharks began to tighten up. Blackburn now in midfield created chances for Halewood and Dunn before going close herself. The second goal came in the 23rd minute with Blackburn setting Purdy up for her brace of goals. 2-0. The third arrived just before half time when a Langho defender scored into her own net. 3-0 half time.
The Sharks changed their goalkeeper E. Hadley with Whittaker, and G. Hadley and Kaye came back on. A slow start to the second half and it wasn't until the 32nd minute that Dunn passed to Kaye who volleyed the wrong side of the post. Blackburn was creating numerous chances for Dunn and Halewood, but the finish wasn't there. In the 43rd minute Blackburn lobbed the goalkeeper but hit the bar, and Dunn had two chances saved. In the 46th minute Langho began to fight back and their Player of the Match Burton reduced the arrears.3-1.
The Sharks finally got their goal when Dunn made it 4-1, and with time running out a Blackburn run and cross was turned in by Dunn for her brace of goals. The Sharks ran out 5-1 winners with Madison Purdy being nominated the Sharks Player of the Match.
