Sharks With Last Gasp Winner

The teams had met last week, with the Sharks losing to a last minute goal. In a mirror image it was the Sharks who got this week's last minute winner. The team lined up as Madison Purdy in goal, Beth Whittaker and Eve Hadley in defence, Lauren Horsfield, Izzy Dunn and Phoebe Williams in midfield and a strong forward line of Grace Hadley and Emily Blackburn with Jasey Kay and Daisy Halwood as substitutes.
Hyndburn chose to kick downhill first half and were very dominant in the first few minutes. The Sharks first attack of real note came in the 6th minute with G. Hadley going down the wing and her cross found Blackburn in the penalty area who slid the ball past the goalkeeper for the opener. 1-0. In the 8th minute Kay came on for Horsfield and from the next attack Blackburn shot into the side netting. On 13 Minutes Hyndburn equalised, the Sharks defence missing three tackles and leaving Hyndburn's captain Atkin in the clear to score. 1-1.
Halwood came on in the 16th minute for Dunn and then Blackburn had a shot saved by the goalkeeper's feet. The Sharks midfield were winning a lot of tackles with Williams doing well. In the 18th minute Hyndburn hit the post but Purdy recovered the rebound diving at the attacker's feet. Purdy was having a good game in coming out twice to block goal bound shots, but could do nothing in the 20th minute when Hyndburn's captain Atkin slotted home her second goal. 1-2. Pressure was building, with Whittaker defending well and in the last minute of the first half Purdy pulled off another good save. Half-time 1-2.
The Sharks changed their goalkeeper with E. Hadley going in goal and Purdy into midfield. The Sharks kicked off the second half and in their first attack another G. Hadley cross found Blackburn in the box and she put the ball away for the equaliser.2-2. E. Hadley did a great save pushing the ball round the post, but it is the Sharks who were pushing hard for a goal. Blackburn passed the ball to Purdy who shot just wide, and then from a G. Hadley free kick Kay shot wide. Purdy now playing in midfield was all over the pitch showing great stamina. In the 36th minute the Sharks won a corner, and from G. Hadley's cross the ball hit a defender on the back post and went in. 3-2.
Hyndburn attack from the kick off and E. Hadley saved a long shot from Hyndburn's No.10 McIntyre. In the 40th minute Hyndburn's equaliser came, with the ball pinging around the box before being put away to make it. 3-3. With play going end to end the teams were evenly matched. The Sharks Blackburn was very dangerous, being put through three times but each time just over ran the ball allowing the goalkeeper to block. E. Hadley then saved from Atkin denying her a hat-trick and then Dunn did two saving tackles in the Sharks penalty area. In the 48th minute G. Hadley had an open net but thundered her shot against the post, chance gone, and then Hyndburn won a corner, but from the corner G. Hadley got the ball in her own penalty box and ran the length of the field before slipping the ball to Blackburn who netted for her hat-trick. The whistle went and the Sharks won 4-3 with three goals for Blackburn and four assists for G. Hadley. E Hadley was the Sharks Player of the Match.
