Haslingden u16s 1 v 7 AFC Bolton

Bleak. Miserable. Depressing. Not the match, that was the weather.
A top of the table clash with both teams having a win and a draw each before today, something was going to give. Unfortunately this week it was Haslingden.
It started off at a frantic pace, with all the girls keen to get warm. End to end football throughout the majority of the game kept all the supporters entertained. After a few sighter shots at goal from each team it was Haslingden who took the lead, Holly powered through the visitors defence and unleashed a trademark thunderbolt which the keeper was unable to hold onto, only knocking it out towards Alannah, who kept calm and placed the ball in the back of the net. Bolton were quick to reply, scoring their first a few minutes later.
Some great passing play from all the Haslingden players was great to see and with a bit more composure in front of goal would have seen plenty more goals from our side. Power and pace were what Bolton brought to the table, and they used it well going into half time 3.1 up.
A few changes and tweaks at half time saw Haslingden cope a lot better with Bolton's attacks, and have a few more of their own too. The girls weren't giving up without a fight. With 6 subs to choose from, most of the players got a break, but this knocked us out of our stride a bit too. A solid return for Emily was good to see, Tanya had a strong debut performing well on either wing and Chelsey, Naomi and Elsie are all settling in well.
Unfortunately Haslingden's wall, Amani, couldn't save every shot she faced and Bolton continued to score. 7.1 to Bolton was the final score.
