The team faced Cadley with Amelia Warburton in goal, Casey Hutchinson and Grace Feilding in defence. Hannah Morrissey in midfield along with Chloe Hutchinson Olivia Yau and Madeleine Bland in attack.
On a cold and frosty morning Haslingden faced Cadley with only 7 players in their squad. Cadley had 10 players and rather than leave them on the side lines getting cold discussions between managers saw Cadley play with 9 and Haslingden played with 8 having borrowed a player from Cadley. From the kick off Haslingden and Cadley battled it out chasing down every pass and franticly tackling each other to gain possession. The defence on each side was well organised and defended very well, clearing their lines keeping the strikers at bay. It was twenty minutes into the game when Cadley broke the deadlock. Haslingden struggled to clear a corner and the ball bounced around the goal mouth before a Cadley player got a foot to it and tapped it into the corner of the goal. This seemed to unsettle Haslingden and 5 minutes later Cadley went 2 nil up when Haslingden failed to clear their lines again. Second half Haslingden defence started to push forward leaving gaps at the back, this gave Cadley more success going forward, a good strike by Cadley on a tight angle made it 3-0. Haslingden failed to link up any passes going forward and rarely tested the keeper. Tired legs meant when Haslingden pushed forward the defence struggled to get back to defend and Cadley went 4-0 up. Had Haslingden fielded a full squad it would have made all the difference, but well done to the girls that showed some guts and determination on the pitch.
